Final Version with Web Player!
This is the final version of Button City Pokitto! A demake made for the Cute Little Demake Jam.
The Pokitto is a fun little handheld console that runs on a low-spec ARM processor (32kb ram, 72 MHz processor). And Button City is a game that I helped work on that was released two months ago. Given that the jam theme was "demakes," I thought it would be fun to do a game I had a close connection with for a great little handheld that I love.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the time during the jam to fit in little niceties that I wanted, so I continued working on the demake for the last month and a half. I got in various degrees of polish, but also something unexpected: French and Italian translations! A few members of the awesome Pokitto community offered to translate, so I took them up on the offer. It was a challenging but informative experience.
Finally, I've always felt that sharing jam games via platform-specific binaries is really unfortunate. For a while now, I've wanted to try using SDL and Emscripten, so I decided that this should be the project. And with the aid of some blog posts, getting it going wasn't too bad. So I'm proud to say that Button City Pokitto has a web player that even persists save files between sessions! :confettti:
